Meet The Author

I've always wanted to make records. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I learned pretty early on that if that's what I wanted to do, no one was just going to give me a job. I had to create my work! Since my days at University, I have been obsessed with business books, learning how to become an entrepreneur in the music industry,

Since embarking in this mad Industry I've had opportunities to travel the world, run studios for the UK's most successful songwriter of all time (Mike Stock), and produce and coach artists on Robert Plant's label.

Now I work from my own home studio, producing for independent artists, working with audio tech companies and generally buying too many synths.

This is the life I want to teach you how to get.

Can't I learn this all in Business Books?

Yes! Of course you can. However, I have read a lot of business books. Some great, some not so much. Because they give advice designed to fit all businesses, it's often hard to find what information suits creative industries.

What if the information changes and the book is updated?

When you buy the book, you will get the opportunity to create an account on the website. By creating an account you will be able to access all and any updates to the book. Not only that, I will send links with any, and all, updates directly to you where possible.

Will buying this book guarantee me a career in music?

I have a garage full of tools, but I can't guarantee I can build a house. What this book aims to do is give the tools, business practices, and plan that I have found to be the most direct way to set up, or give a much-needed boost to a studio business. The ideas in this book are not only what I have personally used, but what I have also taught to other music producers who have successfully built their own production companies.

What do I need to get started?

As long as you have the access or own a studio, you're good to go. I started Studio Chimp with a laptop, a small interface and a pair of cheap Tannoy Reveals. Other than that, if you have a phone, you can start with the ideas in the book. Everyone comes at this book on different levels of production ability, gear, and experience. Although these factors make a difference to how long it will take you to make a full-time career with music production, it's not necessarily indicative.

Why did you write this book if you're so booked up all the time?

I absolutely understand this sentiment! I wrote this book after being asked to give master classes to Europe's largest music school on creating production businesses for their current students and alumni. 

After this, I was constantly being asked by producers starting out, to give private coaching and consultation, as well as consulting labels and other studios. Since I want to be creating records, it seemed quicker to give them a guide to follow. I don't plan on getting rich selling a £15 guide.

I don't have much time, can I still use this book?

The more time you can dedicate to working on your business, the more results you will see. However, as a busy guy in his 30s with a kid, I understand time is hard to come by. With this in mind I created the Producer's Speed Run. If you can dedicate a couple of hours to reading the Producer's Playbook in full, and then dedicate an hour a day, within 30 days you will be well on your way to creating a sustainable business.

Why is it so cheap when other eBooks and course aren't?​

As mentioned before, I don't plan on getting rich selling this guide. When setting the price for this, I wanted it to be available for everyone. At this price, it means that anyone who has purchased the guide will potentially 10x their investment into this book with their first booking.

Chances are, if you're on this page right now, you're here for two reasons. Either you saw my advert and as a fully booked producer, you were curious about what I had to say, or you're here because you're not where you would like to be.

If you're the latter, I get it. It's tough running a studio business. You can be a complete expert when it comes to creating records but have no idea what steps to take to make it profitable. That fear of getting it wrong has held me back so many times. I also understand that you don't want to waste money on yet another eBook. I've bought plenty of eBooks from people.
